Graduation Speech High School - 948 Words

Over the last few years of high school I feel like I changed in a positive way because in the beginning of my freshmen year of high school, I didn’t really think of how much my grades would affect my chances of graduating and going to college. I didn’t think I would make it this far and it didn’t matter to me because dropping out and getting a GED seemed like an easy way out for me at the time. But I realized that life could be hard out there when all you’ll have is GED that gets you little job opportunities when you could just finish school, work on getting your diploma and maybe go to college to study for what you’d want to do for a career that can get you tons of job opportunities because of the experience you have. Almost every day when schools out I have tons of homework, considering I am a senior. But, just the thought of doing my homework for each class and studying for tests the next day is quiet overwhelming and makes me feel discouraged. Some of the time I tell my teachers that I trust the most â€Å"Hey, I don’t think I can do this. I give up†. They made sure I got the help I needed so that I do pass the class. Essay on The Future of American Healthcare Free Essays

Healthcare policies in the United States have changed throughout history, today there are programs and Acts in place to help insure Americans. These programs are in the works for reform under the Trump administration. Today, up to 44 million people in the United States do not have health insurance. We will write a custom essay sample on Essay on The Future of American Healthcare or any similar topic only for you Order Now Almost the same amount, 38 million, have insufficient coverage. This being said one-third of the American population is living without the certainty of knowing if they are covered in the event of a medical emergency. The issue today is pursuing a path that insures everyone and provides equal opportunity for all patients. President Donald Trump plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act by the end of 2018. The process of repealing it is long and complicated, currently he is trying everything he can to weaken it. According to The Balance, â€Å"On October 12, 2017, President Trump signed an executive order to modify Obamacare in five ways. These changes went into effect in January 2018†. These five modifications include expanding access to association plans, ease restrictions on short-term health plans, health reimbursement arrangements, limit consolidation, and increase competition. If they were to repeal the bill, what would happen to the 11 million Americans currently insured through Obamacare? What will the replacement plan look like? What changes or improvements would be made? Will insurance companies be allowed to continue to deny coverage based on pre-existing conditions? The process is long and slow, there are no permanent results in place but change is happening and looking back on history can help shape the future of healthcare. The history of American healthcare dates back into the 1940’s with the presidency of Truman. During the first years, the prices of medical procedures were increasing due to the medical advances and discoveries. As a result the battle of healthcare began. The Blue Cross was the first to provide healthcare to workers. Healthcare advances and modifications developed over 12 presidencies to get where it is today. The Clinton administration planned for health insurance coverage to be provided through private insurers that competed for customers in a regulated market environment, which would be overseen by regional health alliances in each state. This eventually led to Obama’s Affordable Care Act. The Trump administration is aiming to replace this Act or modify it. As recently as 2013 the Center for Disease Control reports, â€Å"2.4% of people have problems finding a general doctor and 2.1% have been told that a doctor’s office or clinic would not accept them as new patients. Another 2.9% have been told that a doctor’s office or clinic did not accept their health care coverage.† These people are those with pre-existing conditions. In the 20’s the Blue Cross did not deny coverage to people with pre-existing conditions, regardless of sex and age. When other new for-profit companies emerged they had to up their prices to compete. This is the road the United States is on, more and more companies are popping up and creating more competition. The increased competition is raising the prices of coverage that many Americans cannot afford. Making healthcare coverage available to everyone regardless of age, sex and pre-existing conditions is important to the well-being of the United States. Next in this Wordfence vs Sucuri guide, let’s next look in-depth at how these featu res compare†¦Wordfence malware scannerThe Wordfence scanner searches your site for traces of malware, malicious URLs, and any patterns of infections. It does this by examining all of your website’s files, themes, plugins, and posts. It also monitors your server, and among other tasks, checks to see if your IP address is being used for malicious activity.During the scan, Wordfence compares your files to those in the WordPress repository, and then alerts you to any changes. You can then authorize Wordfence to repair the files, restoring them to the original repository version. By default, Wordfence runs a scan from your server daily to check on the status of your website. However, you can also run manual scans with just a click of a button.Sucuri malware scannerThe Sucuri malware scanner scans your website for†¦MalwareBlacklist statusWebsite errorsOut-of-date softwareA core integrity check also identifies if any core WordPress files have been modified or removed. Sucu ri will then alert you to any file changes on your website, malicious threats, or blacklists. It will also make Post-hack recommendations on how to deal with problems or further secure your site. The key difference between the Sucuri and Wordfence scanners is that the Sucuri malware scanner is a remote scanner, whereas the Wordfence scanner is server-side. Therefore, the Sucuri scan is far from 100% accurate, as your website could be hosting malware that doesn’t show up on the front-end of your site. However, the tradeoff is that Wordfence will use more server resources during its scan. If you prefer a more comprehensive off-site scan, check out the MalCare plugin.Wordfence firewallThe free Wordfence plugin includes a web application firewall (WAF) that identifies and blocks against malicious traffic. Not only does it protect against common web-based attacks, but the firewall also focuses on diagnosing WordPress-specific threats that target the WordPress core, themes, and plugi ns. The WAF also runs directly from your server and monitors regular visitors and activity on your website, which helps it to identify anything out of the ordinary.Other features of the Wordfence firewall includeBrute force attack protection Wordfence enforces brute force attack protection, locking out password-guessing attackers, and helping you implement strong passwords.Rate limiting You can opt to block crawlers that are using too many resources or stealing content.Blocking Powerful blocking features let you set your own blocking rules and block traffic based on IP, IP range, hostname, browser, or referrer.Firewall rules, malware signatures, and malicious IP addresses are updated constantly by the Wordfence security team. However, your firewall will only be updated against the latest security threats in real-time if you upgrade to the premium Wordfence packages.Using the free plugin, you will need to wait 30 days for any new firewall rules to run on your website, which means you wont get protection against zero-day exploits in the free version  (AKA brand new exploits that have only just been discovered).Sucuri firewallUnfortunately, if you opt to use the free Sucuri plugin, you won’t find a firewall amongst the features on offer. Therefore, although the free version of Sucuri will scan your website and report any abnormalities, it in no way blocks attacks.Sucuri does offer its own WAF, but only on its premium plans.Wordfence vs Sucuri: Other featuresLet’s have a look at some of the other features that these two security plugins provideWordPress hardening Sucuri provides a range of WordPress hardening options, including blocking PHP files, blocking theme and plugin editors, and much more, all of which you can configure to suit your needs.Live traffic options The Wordfence live traffic tools shows what is happening on your site in real-time, including user logins, hack attempts, and firewall blocked requests.Reporting Both plugins aler t you of any security breaches via email.Support Wordfence and Sucuri both provide extensive knowledge bases. Palace Bar Essay Example

Palace Bar Essay Example Palace Bar Essay Palace Bar Essay After being with Gerald for about half a year, Daisy went to the seaside for several months, to try and make it last longer (Inspector, quoting from her diary). When her money ran out though, she had no choice but to return to the Palace Bar again, for there was no other way for her to gain money. One night she met Eric, a seemingly friendly young man who ended up getting very drunk and forcing her to sleep with him. Eric admits: she told me she didnt want me to go in but that well, I was in that state when a chap easily turns nasty and I threatened to make a row. Daisy was helpless, she was faced by a drunk, violent young man, and she was powerless to stop him. The only way that she could save herself was to go along with him, and let him take advantage of her vulnerable position. Then when she saw him again, he was in a normal state, and he was just like any other customer, she had to sleep with people to gain money, and to survive. With little or no contraception in these times, she became pregnant. When she told him, Eric insisted on giving her enough money to keep her going, again, the money is pressed upon Daisy, she doesnt take it, or ask for it, she is persuaded to take it. Then when she discovered that Eric was giving her stolen money she wouldnt take any more, and she didnt want to see me [Eric] again. This shows incredible honesty and caring for Eric, that even pregnant, with no money, she wouldnt take stolen money because she knew it was wrong, and also because she didnt want to get Eric into trouble. Then again, you could say that she only turned the money down because she didnt want to get herself into trouble, she didnt do it because of Eric at all. Also Eva shouldnt have gone to the Palace Bar in the first place, it was her fault that she got pregnant because she put herself at risk of men like Eric. It was her own fault that she let Eric take advantage of her, she shouldnt have let him take her home in the first place, she should have realised he was drunk and stayed in the Bar when he left. Also why didnt she try for a job instead of resorting to the Palace Bar. Eric says: she didnt feel like trying again for another job, but that is lazy of her, and she should have at least looked for one. The last straw for Daisy was being turned down by charity. With no money or job and a baby on the way she made a last attempt by applying to the Bromley Womans Committee for money. She said that she was called Mrs Birling, which is nearly true, because she was pregnant with Erics baby, but very unfortunately for her, Mrs Birling was interviewing her, and as Mrs Birling thought that Daisy was trying to be rude, she was immediately prejudiced against her case. From then on, Daisy had no chance, and when she said truthfully that she didnt want to take stolen money from Eric (she never revealed Erics true identity though) Mrs Birling assumed that a girl in Daisys position would not have such scruples as that, and thought that Daisy was lying. Mrs Birling never took Daisy seriously, she just saw her as a lying prostitute who didnt deserve the charitys money because it was meant to be given only to needy cases, when she should have realised that Daisy was as needy a cause as any. When Mrs Birling refused to give Daisy any money, it was too much for her, and she committed suicide. However, you could think that it was all Daisys fault that she was pregnant in the first place, because she was the one who went to the Palace Bar, she brought it all upon herself; therefore she deserved to be turned down by charity, there were more needy cases apart from Daisy. Also it was dishonest of her to make up a story in the first place. She pretended that her husband had left her, which was an outright lie, because she had never had a husband, only a man who she slept with several times, and also she was the one who told Eric to stop giving her money, she stood back from Erics advances, and she said that it was a bad idea that they were ma rried. She had been turned out and turned down too many times, this was the end. (Inspector) Daisy eventually committed suicide because there was nothing left for her, and she knew she wouldnt be able to give her child any future worth living for. Her illegitimate baby would be used and ill-treated just as Daisy had been, so Daisy knew there was no point in giving birth to the poor thing, so I dont think she was responsible for the death of her unborn baby, I think it was the fault of the people who misused her, such as the Birlings, and Gerald. They were all important factors in the eventual death of Eva (Daisy) Smith. It wasnt Daisys fault that she committed suicide, there was just nothing left for her. She had nowhere to live, no money, no  friends, and she had just been turned down by charity, so she gave up.
